National Cancer Awareness Day

National Cancer Awareness Day

Every November 7th, India observes National Cancer Awareness Day to teach people about preventing, spotting, and treating cancer.

Cancer is a major cause of death globally, and India has over 1.4 million new cases every year. Cancer happens when your cells grow wildly and can spread. It can affect any part of your body. Cancer cells can trick your immune system into not attacking them.

Certain things raise the risk of developing cancer, like using tobacco, alcohol, cancer-causing stuff, viral infections, smoking, lack of physical exercise and being overweight.

This year’s theme for National Cancer Awareness Day is “Close the Care Gap,” which means making sure everyone gets the same good cancer care.
