National Cinema Day 2023

National Cinema Day 2023

National Cinema Day is celebrated annually on October 13 to honour the rich heritage and cultural significance of the Indian film industry. On this cinephiles (cinema enthusiasts) across the nation come together to celebrate the art of filmmaking and its profound impact on society.

The Multiplex Association of India (MAI) established the National Cinema Day on September 23, 2022, to celebrate the reopening of movie halls in India after the prolonged lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The movie ticket prices were lowered significantly on that day and more than 6.5 million Indians went to the theatres. This was the highest-attended day of the entire year.

The MAI decided to celebrate National Cinema Day 2023 on October 13, this year. The movie ticket prices have been lowered to Rs. 99 in most parts of the country.

Indian cinema is known worldwide for its diversity and creativity. It has made significant contributions to the global film landscape. National Cinema Day provides an excellent opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate the talents of filmmakers, actors, writers, and others who are involved in the creation of exceptional cinematic experiences.

People celebrate this day in many different ways. Some participate in movie discussions and breakdowns, others involve themselves in movie-watching sprees. On this day, many places feature films from different regions of India. This allows for cultural exchange and gives people the chance to appreciate the cultural diversity of the nation.
