National Energy Conservation Day 2023

National Energy Conservation Day 2023

Every year on December 14th, we celebrate National Energy Conservation Day in India to raise awareness about the importance of conserving energy. This day highlights the achievements made by India in energy conservation.

Energy conservation means using energy wisely by making smart choices, like turning off lights and using energy-efficient devices. It’s about using resources carefully to ensure that there is enough energy left for the future.

The Ministry of Power started the National Energy Conservation Awards in 1991 to recognise industries for reducing energy consumption. Since then, December 14th has been celebrated as the National Energy Consumption Day. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) organises an event annually where awards are given to the ones making a positive change. A painting competition is also arranged in various schools to educate students about this day.

This year, the National Energy Conservation Day 2023 function will take place in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. President Draupadi Murmu will address the crowd and present awards to the winners. We can celebrate this day by learning more about how to save energy in our daily lives.
