National Sports and Adventure Awards 2024 

On 9th January 2024, the President of India Draupadi Murmu presented twenty-six athletes with the National Sports and Adventure Awards. The event took place at the Rastrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. The Awards included the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award, the Dronacharya Award, the Arjuna Award, and the Dhyan Chand Award. 

The men’s double badminton players Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy were given the  Mayor Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Awards 2023. Previously known as the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, this award was renamed after the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand.

Wrestling coach Lalit Kumar and chess coach R B Ramesh were two of the coaches who were awarded the Dronacharya Awards. Cricketer Mohammad Shami was among the awardees of the Arjuna Awards. Kabaddi player Pawan Kumar, Kho-kho player Ms Nasreen and others were also honoured with this prestigious award.

The ceremony honoured the remarkable athletes of India who continue to make our country proud.
