National Sports and Adventure Awards 2024 

On 9th January 2024, the President of India Draupadi Murmu presented twenty-six outstanding athletes with the National Sports and Adventure Awards. The event took place at the Rastrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. The Awards included the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award, the Dronacharya Award, the Arjuna Award, and the Dhyan Chand Award. 

The men’s double badminton players Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy were given the celebrated Mayor Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award. Previously known as the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, this prestigious award was renamed after the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand.

Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad trophy is given to the university that has shown the best performance in sports. This award was given to Guru Nanak Dev University of Amritsar, Punjab. The university received a trophy and cash prize of ₹15 lakhs.
