National Voter’s Day 2024

National Voter’s Day 2024

Every year on 25th January, we celebrate National Voter’s Day in India to encourage voters to participate in the electoral process. In a democratic country like India, voting is a fundamental right of every 18+ citizen as it allows them to choose the future leader of the country. Also known as Rashtriya Matdata Diwas, this day highlights the importance of every single vote.

In 2024, the 14th edition of the National Voter’s Day is being celebrated. This day was first observed on 25th January 2011 to mark the 61st anniversary of establishing the Election Commission of India. The main goals were to educate voters, create awareness, and engage in outreach activities.

This year, the National Voter’s Day is being celebrated in New Delhi by the Election Commission of India. The Chief guest of the event is Indian President Draupadi Murmu. The theme of this year is “ Nothing Like Voting, I Vote For Sure” which is same as the last year’s theme.

On National Voter’s Day, the Election Commission identifies all eligible voters who reach the age of 18 on January 1st of each year in all polling stations across India. Such voters are enrolled and are given the Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) on January 25th every year.
