National Youth Day 2024

Every year on 12th January, we celebrate the National Youth Day in India. This day celebrates the great Swami Vivekananda. This day talks about the importance of the country’s youth in the development of our country.  

Swami Vivekananda was one of the most important leaders in Indian history. He was born in Kolkata, West Bengal on 12th January 1863. At birth, he was named Narendranath Duta. 

He became a Hindu monk who went around spreading the teachings of Hinduism. In 1897, he started the Ramakrishna Mission, which he named after his spiritual Guru, Sri Ramakrishna. In 1902, He passed away at the age of 39. 

In 1984, the Indian Government declared Swami Vivekananda’s birthday as National Youth Day. This day honours the teaching of Swami Vivekananda, who believed that the young population of the country is capable of making major changes.
