Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Jayanti 2024

Every year, on 23rd January, India observes Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Jayanti. This day is also known as Parakram Diwas. This special day honours the life of the great freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

Netaji was born on 23rd January 1897, in Cuttack, Odisha. He was an important part of the Indian freedom movement. Alongside other great freedom fighters such as Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, he fought against British rule in India. 

In 2024, we are celebrating the 127th birth anniversary of Netaji. The government of India officially declared 23 January as Netaji Jayanti in 2021.

Netaji Jayanti is observed throughout India by raising the Indian national flag and arranging cultural programs in schools and colleges. Three states – West Bengal, Tripura, and Odisha – have holidays on this day. This day celebrates the courage of this great Indian leader.
