Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2023

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry is a big award given to a person or people who achieved something remarkable in the field of Chemistry. It is awarded by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences every year.

This year, the Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2023 has been given to three individuals, Moungi G. Bawendi, Louis E. Brus and Alexei I. Ekimov “for the discovery and synthesis of quantum dots”.

Quantum dots are extremely tiny particles. These particles are so small that you cannot see them with the naked eye. We know that atoms are the smallest things in the world. Quantum dots are bigger than atoms but smaller than dust particles.

Scientists knew that quantum dots could exist, but it had not been seen and proved. The Nobel Laureates in Chemistry 2023 have successfully created these quantum dots and discovered their existence.
