Nobel Prize in Peace 2023

The Nobel Peace Prize is given every year to people who are very brave and work for fairness and peace between different groups. This year, it was given to Narges Mohammadi from Iran for her bravery in helping women and fighting for their rights.

Narges Mohammadi was born in 1972. She worked as a writer for a newspaper and an engineer, trying to make things better in Iran. She was arrested many times and given a long prison sentence because she spoke up for women’s rights and freedom in Iran. When the Nobel Prize was announced, she was still in prison.

Because of her bravery in making life better for women in Iran, she received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2023. She’s the second Iranian woman to get this prize, after Shirin Ebadi in 2003.
