Para-Asian Games 2023 

The fourth edition of the Para-Asian Games will take place in Hangzhou, China from October 22 to October 28. The Para-Asian Games are held every four years after the Asian Games for athletes with physical disabilities.

From India, 309 athletes will participate in the Para-Asian Games 2023 including 196 men and 113 women. Athlete Sumit Antil is set to represent India in the Javelin Throw – F64 category. Antil has proven his prowess in the field of Javelin Throw by securing the titles of Olympic and world para athletics champion in 2023.

50-year-old badminton player Parul Parmar became the first female athlete from India to win a gold medal at the Para-Asian Games in 2014. In 2023, she will be participating in the doubles category. 16-year-old Sheetal Devi who became the first woman without arms to secure a medal at the Para World Archery Championships will also be representing India. 

Among other participants is accomplished rifle shooter Avani Lekhara who ranked first in the world in the women’s 10m air rifle standing SH1 category. Former world number one shuttler Pramod Bhagat. Ekta Bhyan, a women’s club and discus thrower won gold medals in the 2016, 2017, and 2018 National Para Athletics Championships.

Athletes from India will be participating in 17 sports categories in total, including canoeing, Chess, Cycling, Judo, Powerlifting etc. Other athletes who will represent India are Narayan Thakur, Ravi Kumar, Shalini Saraswathi, Jayanti Behera etc. With such talented members, expectations are soaring high for the upcoming event.
