PM Modi Inaugurates India’s First Underwater Metro

On 6th March 2024, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the first underwater metro in India. This underwater metro is situated in Kolkata. It covers a distance of 4.8 km under the Hooghly River. It is a part of the Kolkata Metro system that joins two places in Kolkata-  Howrah and Salt Lake.

PM Modi took the first ride on the underwater metro with several school students. Some of the ministers and workers of Kolkata Metro were also present there. A video was released of PM Modi talking to students on a train and waving to passengers of another metro train.

The underwater service will be open to the general public after some days. After launching this metro, PM Modi will address a public rally in Kolkata. This is a huge achievement for India, as an underwater metro shows how far we have come in developing our country’s architectural power.
