PM Modi Receives Bhutan’s Highest Civilian Award

PM Modi Receives Bhutan’s Highest Civilian Award

On 22nd March 2024, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honoured with the highest civilian award of Bhutan. This is the most important award of our neighbouring country, Bhutan. It is known as the Order of the Druk Gyalpo.

PM Modi became the first foreign leader to have received this honour. During this visit, the king of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, awarded him this title. Back in 2021, it was announced that PM Modi will receive this award. Since it was started, this award has been given to only four people.

PM Modi announced on social media about this lifetime achievement. He dedicated this award to the 140 crores of Indians. This award is a significant milestone in the developing relationship between India and Bhutan. The award was given to him for his “outstanding contribution to the growth of India-Bhutan relations” and his contribution to Bhutan’s development.
