PM Narendra Modi honours Sardar Vallabhai Patel on his birth anniversary

Every year on 31st October, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel is celebrated as National Unity Day in India. This year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Statue of Unity in Gujarat. 

Sardar Vallabhai Patel was a great freedom fighter and the first Home Minister of India. He played a huge role in the unification of Indian princely states after the partition. He was given the title of the ‘Architect of Modern India.’ The Statue of Unity was introduced by PM Modi on 31 October 2018 to honour his contributions. 

A cultural event was organised where PM Modi carried out the Oath of Unity to the gathering. The Rashtriya Ekta Diwas parade was performed by some members of the Border Security Force and the State Police Force. After this, PM Modi announced the launch of various projects for the development of India. 

The 148th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel saw the citizens of India coming together to celebrate the ‘Iron Man’ of India. His hard work led to the formation of the unified India that we see today.
