PM Narendra Modi Reveals the Gaganyaan Astronauts

On 27th February, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the names of the astronauts for the Gaganyaan mission. They are Group Captains Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair, Ajit Krishnan, Angad Pratap, and Commander Subhanshu Shukla. PM Modi presented them with “astronaut wings” as a symbol that they are part of this important mission. This mission will take place in 2025. 

The Gaganyaan Space Mission is a huge step for India as people will travel to outer space. Currently, the four astronauts are training at ISRO’s Astronaut Training Facility in Bengaluru to get ready for the mission. After their training, three main astronauts will be picked for the mission.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has big plans for India- they are planning to send people to the Moon by 2040! The Gaganyaan Space Mission is a huge step to ensure that India successfully sends humans to outer space.
