Remembering Lata Mangeshkar on her Birth Anniversary

94 years ago, a famous singer named Lata Mangeshkar was born in India. People called her the “Nightingale of India” because she had a beautiful singing voice. She was born on September 28, 1929, in the state of Madhya Pradesh. When she was born, her mom named her “Hema,” but later she changed it to “Lata.”

Lata started singing when she was just 13 years old in 1942! Her father, who was a musician, taught her how to sing because her family was full of talented musicians.

Even famous people like Lata face challenges. The first song she sang for a movie was taken out of the movie in 1942. In the beginning, she even had to do some acting in small roles in movies, even though she did not really like it.

We still love and listen to her songs even today! Some of her really famous songs are “Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya”, “Lag Jaa Gale” and a patriotic song called “Aye Mere Watan Ke Logo.”

Lata Mangeshkar passed away on February 6, 2022, when she was 92 years old. In her lifetime, she recorded 50,000 songs in 14 different languages! Even though she’s not with us anymore, she’s still super loved and celebrated as one of India’s greatest singers!
