Remembering Legendary Footballer Diego Maradona

Three years ago on this day, the amazing Argentina football player Diego Maradona passed away at the age of sixty. He is known as one of the greatest players in the history of sports. 

Diego Maradona was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on 30th October 1960. At the age of three, one of his cousins gifted him a football, which started his love for the game. He first played for the Argentina National Team in 1977 at the age of 16.

Maradona played in four FIFA World Cups and won the 1986 World Cup as the captain of the Argentina team. He was awarded the Golden Ball as the tournament’s best player. In the 1986 Argentina vs England match, he scored two of his most iconic goals, known as ‘Hand of God’ and ‘Goal of the Century.’ In 2002, ‘Goal of the Century’ was voted as the greatest goal in the history of the World Cup.

Maradona became the coach of the Argentina National Team in 2008. Afterwards, he coached many other football clubs before passing away in November 2020. During the 2022 Qatar World Cup, many of his fans came together to pay tribute on his second death anniversary. Diego Maradona will always be celebrated as one of the most remarkable footballers of all time.
