Royal Bengal Tiger Spotted at Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary

Royal Bengal Tiger Spotted at Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary

Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary of North Bengal captured images of a Royal Bengal Tiger in their trap cameras for the first time in 20 years, since 1998. The trap cameras picked up images of the Royal Bengal Tiger from three different locations in their sanctuary in February, April and August of last year.

This discovery has fascinated both the wildlife sanctuary foresters and the general public. It has also caught the attention of the forest minister, Jyotipriya Mallik, who will be traveling to Siliguri soon to discuss the matter and improve the wildlife sanctuary.

As of now, the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary has 80 trap cameras. 60 more will be installed to check whether there are more than one Royal Bengal Tiger or other big cats in the sanctuary, which have not been detected so far.
