Royal Challengers Bangalore Wins Women’s Premier League in 2024 

On 17th March 2024, the Women’s Premier League (WPL) concluded its second season with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) winning their first-ever title in a spectacular finale. The final match took place between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. 

The Royal Challengers Bangalore, captained by Smriti Mandhana, defeated Delhi Capitals by eight wickets. The match started with Delhi Capitals batting. RCB player Shreyanka Patil took four wickets in the finals, and the Delhi Capitals were all out with a score of 113. RCB scored 114 runs, with star batter Richa Ghosh finishing the match. 

The stadium was in celebration of the first-ever win for RCB. The captain of the Men’s RCB team, legendary cricketer Virat Kohli participated in the post-match festivities via a video call. He congratulated the women of RCB on winning the very first title for the team and posted a congratulatory post with the caption reading “Superwomen.” Cricket legends, including Sachin Tendulkar and Virendra Sehwag, also congratulated the team on social media. 

It was the second time that the Delhi Capitals made it into the finals however, they are yet to secure a win. The first season of the WPL was won by Mumbai Indians, starting this riveting journey in women’s cricket.
