Shakespeare Room Opened at the Oldest Library in Australia

The State LIbrary of New South Wales, which is the oldest library in the whole of Australia, has decided to open up their Shakespeare room for the first time in history. The room was built in the 1940s to memorialize the 300th anniversary of William Shakespeare, the famous English playwright. The library has thousands of books written by Shakespeare and books written by others about him.

The room is built in Tudor style with medieval and post medieval English architecture. To top things off, the glass windows of the room are stained with the depictions of the seven ages of man from his popular play called As You Like It.

A special exhibition will take place from July 8 to February 25, 2024 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s First Folio, which will fall this year. The First Folio is the first collection of his plays, called Mr. William Shakespeare’s Comedies, Histories and Tragedies, which was published in 1623.
