Sikkim Official Represents State For the First Time at Cannes Film Festival 2023

The Cannes Film Festival is sometimes called the International Film Festival. This event is held in Cannes, France, every year. In this film festival, all new films from across all genres are previewed. The Cannes Film Festival was held for the first time in 1946 to celebrate and give recognition to artists and their works.     

This year, the 76th Cannes festival is to be held from May 16 to 27. In this event, the state of Sikkim is represented by a state official for the first time. Pooja Sharma is the state representative of Sikkim in the Cannes Film Festival 2023. She is the chairperson of the Sikkim Film Promotional Board of the Government of Sikkim and played an important role in the inauguration ceremony during the Cannes Film Festival. 

The inauguration ceremony was attended by famous personalities such as Sara Ali Khan, Urvashi Rautela, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar and more. Pooja Sharma addressed the crowd and spoke about the opportunities offered by North East India in the field of filmmaking.
