Sikkim Official Represents State For the First Time at Cannes Film Festival 2023

The International Film Festival or the Cannes Film Festival is an event that is held in Cannes, France, every year. In this film festival, all new films of all genres are previewed. The Cannes Film Festival was held for the first time in 1946 to celebrate and give recognition to artists and their works.     

This year the 76th Cannes festival is to be held from May 16 to 27. In this event, the state of Sikkim is being represented by a state official for the first time. Pooja Sharma is the Chairperson of the Sikkim Film Promotional Board of the Government of Sikkim. She was a part of the Indian delegation and participated in the panel discussions during the Indian Pavilion inauguration ceremony on May 17. 

The inauguration ceremony was attended by famous personalities such as Sara Ali Khan, Urvashi Rautela, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar and more. Pooja Sharma addressed the crowd and spoke about the opportunities offered by North East India in the field of filmmaking.
