The 14th Dalai Lama Visits Monastery in Siliguri

Yesterday, on 14th December, the 14th Dalai Lama visited the city of Siliguri in West Bengal. He arrived at the Sed-Guyed Monastery after completing his visit to Sikkim. After 13 years, the Dalai Lama came to this city to address a crowd of his devotees. 

The Dalai Lama is the spiritual leader of Buddhism. Originally from Tibet, a region in Asia, the Dalai Lama is a great believer in kindness, peace and non-violence. In his speech, he encouraged people to see every religion as equal and treat every sector of society with kindness and love. Thousands of people from Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Nepal and Bhutan had gathered to listen to his teachings. 

The great spiritual leader was welcomed by the Mayor of Siliguri, Mr Gautam Deb and other senior officials. As per the reports, he is set to return to Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh after the conclusion of this holy event. He has been living in the hillside city of Dharamsala since 1959.
