The Day the Wright Brothers Created History

The Day the Wright Brothers Created History

In December 1903, two brothers named Orville and Wilbur Wright created history by flying the first aircraft. They built it on their own and named it the Wright Flyer. This incredible event took place in Kitty Hawk North Carolina. It was the first time humans were able to fly an aircraft.

The Wright brothers were bicycle makers from Ohio. They wanted to create the first aircraft. They studied how birds flew and did many experiments with simple aircraft-like machines without engines.

Finally, they created the Wright Flyer, an aircraft with a small engine. They chose Kitty Hawk as the location because it had good winds for flying. Also, the soft sand present there made sure that they wouldn’t get hurt if the flyer fell.

On December 17, 1903, the brothers flew the aircraft for the first time. In just 12 seconds, covering a distance of 120 feet, the Wright brothers became the first men to achieve such a feat.

That short flight changed the world. Therefore, in the United States of America(USA), this day is celebrated as the Wright Brothers Day. This day shows that those who dare to dream can achieve the seemingly impossible.
