Today in 2010, Burj Khalifa was Officially Opened in Dubai 

On January 4th, 14 years ago, the iconic Burj Khalifa was officially opened in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is currently the tallest building in the world. Also referred to as the ‘Vertical City,’ this architectural marvel stands 828 meters tall. It was named in honour of Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a former president of the United Arab Emirates. 

The building of Burj Khalifa in 2010 has boosted tourism in the country of UAE.  It was designed by Architect Adrian Smith and his team, taking inspiration from a local dessert flower called the spider lily.

The Burj Khalifa has residential apartments, corporate offices, restaurants, hotels, and many more facilities. The observation decks on levels 148, 125, and 124 offer a remarkable view of Dubai. Before the Burj Khalifa graced the skyline in 2010, the title of the world’s tallest building belonged to Taipei 101 in Taiwan.

The Burj Khalifa is one of the most photographed buildings on Earth. It can be frequently seen in movies and other popular cultures. It took six years to build this building, and on January 4th, 2010, its launch was shown around the world via television.
