Uganda Qualifies for 2024 T20 World Cup

Uganda created history by qualifying for the 2024 T20 World Cup. The United States and West Indies will host the upcoming tournament. It is the first time that this African nation has qualified for the senior ICC World Cup. In total, twenty teams have qualified from around the world, including the United States of America, India, Afghanistan and Oman.

Uganda was able to secure its position by defeating Rwanda in the final round of qualifying matches. Uganda will become the fifth African nation to play in the T20 World Cup.

The T20 World Cup was first started in 2007 by the International Cricket Council. The tournament generally takes place every two years. It is called twenty20 or T20 because every team faces a maximum of 20 overs in a match.

The 2022 T20 World Cup had sixteen teams competing against one another, of which England won. In the 2024 edition, there will be twenty teams divided into four groups. The tournament will take place from 4 June to 30 June.
