UNICEF Day 2023

UNICEF Day 2023

Every year on 11th December, we celebrate UNICEF Day around the world to raise awareness among people about helping children in need. United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is one of the largest organisations that work towards securing a healthy future for every child. It was earlier known as the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund, UNICEF for short. Although its name was changed in 1953, it continues to use the same acronym.

The United Nations established UNICEF on 11th December 1946, to address the needs of children affected by World War II. In the last 76 years since its establishment, UNICEF has worked with 192 countries around the world. It works in underdeveloped regions to provide better healthcare and educational prospects. It fights against social evils such as child abuse and child labour. It is the world’s largest provider of vaccines. In 2022 alone, UNICEF raised $7.4 billion in goods and services for children around the world.

This year, the theme for UNICEF Day is “For every child, every right.” The UNICEF Day plays a significant role in spreading awareness about helping children in need throughout the world. On this day, thousands of people donate to UNICEF to protect the lives and rights of children globally. Assistance is provided in the form of free food, clean water, health care, and education.
