USA Returns to the Surface of the Moon

The United States of America (USA) sent a spacecraft named Odysseus to the Moon. It landed on the Moon on 22nd February 2024. This spacecraft is made by a company named Intuitive Machines. This is the first time that a private company has been able to send a spacecraft to the Moon.

The mission aims to study the Moon and find out if there is water available there. The USA last sent a spacecraft named Apollo 17 to the moon back in 1972. After 52 years, the USA went back to the Moon. NASA has described the current landing as “a giant leap forward.”

Intuitive Machines has announced two upcoming space missions that will take place later this year. In the ongoing space race, five countries have successfully landed on the Moon’s surface: the USA, USSR, China, India, and Japan.
