USA Returns to the Surface of the Moon

On the 22nd of February 2024, a spaceship called “Odysseus” landed on the Moon. A company called “Intuitive Machines” in the USA made this spaceship. This is the first time that a private company sent a spaceship to the Moon.

This spaceship will check if there is water present on the Moon. The last time the USA sent a spaceship to the Moon was in 1972. After 52 years, the USA went back to the Moon. NASA is a big space agency in the USA. It said that this landing is a big step for humans.

Intuitive Machines plans to send two more spaceships to space this year. Until now, only a few countries have reached the Moon: the USA, USSR (which is now Russia), China, India and Japan.
