Vijay Diwas 2023

Vijay Diwas is celebrated in India every year on 16th December. On this day, we celebrate the victory of the Indian Armed Forces in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. This day led to the formation of our neighbouring country of Bangladesh. So, it is also known as Bangladesh Liberation Day. 

After the partition of India in 1947, the country of Pakistan was formed. Bangladesh used to be a part of Pakistan and was known as East Pakistan. Due to political problems, East Pakistan wanted to separate from West Pakistan and become an independent country. India helped East Pakistan by sending military aid to East Pakistan. Ultimately, on 16th December 1971, Pakistan surrendered, and Bangladesh was formed. 

On this day, we honour the great Indian and Bangladeshi soldiers who fought for the liberation of Bangladesh, and we remember the ones who sacrificed their lives. A very proud victory for Indian soldiers, this day is celebrated with love around India and Bangladesh.
