Wildlife Photography Awards 2023

The Wildlife Photography Awards of 2023 was hosted by the Natural Museum of History in London. Out of the 19 photographers who were honoured with this award, six of them were from India.

Sriram Murali won the Wildlife Photographer of the Year award in the ‘Behaviour: Invertebrates’ category for his wonderful photograph that captured the fireflies lighting up the Annamalai Tiger Reserve forest in Tamil Nadu. Young photographer, Vihaan Talya secured the award in the category ‘10 Years and Under’ by clicking a stunning tree trunk spider. 

 

Nejib Ahmed’s shot captured a distressed lioness who walked into a paddy field near Assam’s Orang National Park, scaring the villagers. Vishnu Gopal clicked a Tapir (a large pig-like animal) in the Brazillian Forest. Lastly, Vinod Venugopal’s photo of a Neoscona Spider and Raj Mohan’s aerial shot of the Pallikaranai marshland covered in flames due to burning garbage received a lot of praise. 

The competition hosted by The Natural Museum of History celebrates the skills, patience and unique views of the photographers and presents them with a platform to showcase their talent.
