Wimbledon 2023 Comes to an End

The 2023 Wimbledon Championships were held between July 3 and 16, at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London. This was the 136th edition of the championships since its establishment in 1877. 

Many notable personalities, including celebrities and former sportspeople, attended the championship. Prince George of Wales, Princess Kate and Princess Charlotte were present to watch the championship finals. The former professional tennis player Roger Federer, nicknamed the “God of Tennis” was given a tribute at Wimbledon 2023. He has won 8 Wimbledon titles in his career and holds the record for the most number of wins in the championship. 

This year, players from Russia played in the tournament after being banned from it during the previous edition due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The finals of the Wimbledon 2023 championship were held on July 16. During the match, 20-year-old Spanish player Carlos Alcaraz won the Men’s singles against Serbian player Novak Djokovic to win the Wimbledon 2023 title. 

Novak Djokovic has won 7 Wimbledon titles so far. According to 36-year-old, Alcaraz possesses the skills of all the three best lawn tennis players in the world, referring to Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and himself. 

This was Carlos Alcaraz’s second Grand Slam title win, his first being at the 2022 US Open.
