World Athletics Championships 2023 Come to an End

The World Athletics Championships are a series of track and field events. They are held once every two years. Other than the Olympics, these championships are the only highest-level championships for track and field events. Athletes from all around the globe train hard to participate in this championship. 

This year, the World Athletics Championships were held in Budapest, Hungary. The championships started on August 19 and ended on August 27. A total of 49 events were held in the tournament, including men’s and women’s high jump, pole vault, shot put, discus throw, marathon, relays, hurdles, walks, javelin throw and more. Athletes from 46 countries participated in the championships. 

In the World Athletics Championships 2023, India ranked 18th and won 1 gold medal. The Golden Boy of India, Neeraj Chopra, won India’s first-ever gold in the World Athletics Championships. Neera Chopra made history as the first Indian to win a gold medal in the championships. In his second attempt, he threw the javelin at a distance of 88.17m. Closely behind him was Pakistani athlete Arshad Nadeem with a throw of 87.82m (his season’s best). In third place was Jakub Vadlejch from the Czech Republic with 86.67m. 

Indian athletes, DP Manu and Kishore Jena also performed well in javelin with a throw of 84.14m and 84.77 respectively. This has been Jena’s best throw so far.
