World Earth Day 2023

World Earth Day 2023

Every year on April 22, we celebrate World Earth Day to raise awareness among people about environmental concerns to protect our planet. Billions of people celebrate this day by participating in different activities, like picking up trash, making posters and banners, and educating others about global problems like global warming, pollution, deforestation and depletion of natural resources.

This day was celebrated for the first time 53 years ago by Gaylord Nelson, who was a senator from Wisconsin. Nelson, along with his friend Denis Hayes, who was a student at Harvard University, celebrated the first Earth Day on April 22, 1970. They did this with the aim to promote the importance of environmental conservation among people. This is why Gaylord Nelson is also called the Father of Earth Day.

It is important to celebrate World Earth Day to make people realize that the steps we take now towards environmental conservation, will greatly impact the quality of life of our future generations.
