World Oceans Day

World Oceans Day

World Oceans Day is celebrated every year on June 8. On this day we educate people about the importance of protecting the oceans of the earth. 70% of the earth’s surface is covered by oceans. There are many different types of aquatic animals. Animals which live in water are called aquatic animals. Fishes, Sharks, Dolphins, Whales, Jellyfishes are all aquatic animals. They are all found in the oceans.

Oceans are important to humans. Fishes found in the oceans act as food. Oceans produce some of the oxygen that we breathe. World Oceans Day reminds us to take care of the oceans of our planet. Almost 90% of big fishes in the oceans have died. Due to global warming, the oceans are getting hotter. This is a threat for the animals living in the oceans.
