World Radio Day 2024

World Radio Day 2024

World Radio Day is celebrated every year on February 13th around the world. This day celebrates radio as one of the most important mediums that connected the world before the internet.

Italian inventor Guglielmo Marconi is believed to be the creator of the first radio. In the late 1800s, Marconi did many experiments that led him to create the radio. Marconi was able to send and receive the first radio signal in 1895, so he is known as the “Father of the Radio.”

By the 1920s, radios were sold to the general public. Soon, radio broadcasting became a common medium through which information was shared. It shaped how people received news, entertainment, and other content. To celebrate the invention of the radio, February 13th was declared World Radio Day in 2011.

This year, the theme of World Radio Day is “Radio: A Century Informing, Entertaining and Educating.” It celebrates the origin of radio and its important impact on society. It has been more than 100 years since the radios were first used. Yet, it plays an important part in connecting people from around the world.
