World Radio Day 2024

Every year on February 13th we celebrate World Radio Day around the world. A radio is a machine that lets us listen to stories, news and other such things. This day celebrates this special machine. 

In 1895, an Italian scientist named Guglielmo Marconi made the first radio. He is known as the “Father of the Radio.” In 2011, February 13th  was announced as World Radio Day.

This year, the theme of World Radio Day is “Radio: A Century Informing, Entertaining and Educating.” On this day, we can see how much the radio has helped us. It has been more than 100 years since the radios were first used. Yet, it plays an important part in connecting people from around the world.
