World Sleep Day 2024

World Sleep Day 2024

Every year, we celebrate World Sleep Day to understand the importance of sleep. This day is celebrated on a Friday before the March equinox. Equinox is an event where the Sun appears directly over the equator, resulting in an almost equal amount of daytime and nighttime at all places. This year, World Sleep Day falls on the 15th of March.

World Sleep Day was first celebrated in 2008 when a group of scientists and researchers pointed out the importance of a good sleeping habit. In 2024, the theme of this day is ‘Sleep Equity for Global Health’.

According to a survey done by Wakefit in 2024, nearly half of the people of India do not get a proper amount of sleep. Many people struggle to maintain healthy sleep habits. Lack of sleep results in people developing health issues.

How can we make sure to get a proper night’s sleep? By following some easy habits like being active during the day and not using mobile and other technology in bed, we can make sure that we get a proper amount of sleep. Also, maintaining an hour gap between bedtime and dinner and having a light dinner will help us sleep better. Following these rules, we can make sure that we develop a healthy sleeping habit.
