World Soil Day

World Soil Day

Every year on December 5, we celebrate World Soil Day to highlight the crucial role soil plays in supporting life on Earth.

Good soil is essential for growing the food we eat, providing important nutrients. Unfortunately, in recent decades, industrialization and poor land management have harmed soil quality, causing a loss of organic matter and erosion.

The United Nations declared December 5 as World Soil Day in 2014 to promote awareness of soil conservation. This year’s theme is “Soil and Water: A Source of Life,” emphasizing the vital connection between soil and water for sustaining life.
