World Food Day 2023

  World Food Day 2023

World Food Day, celebrated annually on October 16th, serves as a global platform to draw attention to critical issues such as hunger, food security, and access to proper nutrition. In 2023, the theme for World Food Day is “Water is life, water is food. Leave no one behind,” highlighting the vital role of water in food production and the necessity of ensuring food access for all.

The roots of World Food Day trace back to the founding of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization in 1945. In 1979, FAO declared October 16th as World Food Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about food-related challenges and advocating for solutions.

Despite the fact that access to food is a fundamental human right, millions of people around the world still struggle with hunger and lack access to clean water and proper nutrition. World Food Day aims to shed light on these issues and mobilise efforts to eliminate global hunger.

This day is observed by more than 150 countries, all united in their commitment to ending world hunger and providing equal access to food. It serves as a call to action for governments, organisations, and people to collaborate and make changes toward achieving these goals.
