World Theatre Day 2024

A theatre is a place where people go to watch plays. There, people dress up as different characters and tell us a story by acting. It is just like movies, but is performed right in front of us! It is a very beautiful type of art.

Every year on 27th March, we observe World Theatre Day. This day shows us how important theatres are.  

Did you know that the first theatre took place in the country of Greece? Yes! More than 1500 years ago people started going to theatres to watch plays. So many great authors came along and made theatre an amazing part of our lives. 

The International Theatre Institute (ITI) is a big group that organises this type of play. They announced 27th March as World Theatre Day in 1961. 

World Theatre Day is celebrated in over 100 countries. This day shows us how important theatres are. Also, it inspires young people like you to join and continue this beautiful art form.
