World Toilet Day 2023

World Toilet Day 2023

On 19th November, we celebrate the World Toilet Day all around the world. The day talks about the importance of cleanliness, good hygiene and pure water. The World Toilet Organization made World Toilet Day an official event in 2013.

The symbol of the World Toilet Day is a hummingbird. It is one of the smallest birds in the world. There is a story about a hummingbird putting out a large fire by carrying drops of water in her beak. Even though her actions were small, she was helping fight a big problem. In the same way, the world hygiene problem is huge but everyone can do something to solve it.

Billions of people in the world do not have a proper toilet. Because of this, many people still go to the toilet outside, and this can spread germs. This is a major health issue that ends up harming a large number of people, especially children and women from poor backgrounds.

The theme of the 2023 World Toilet Day is ‘Accelerating Change’ which asks people to take action to solve this health problem. This day aims to provide every citizen with safe toilets and water by 2030. To celebrate this day, we can discuss the need for washrooms, clean water and proper hygiene with others to make people aware.
