Yoga Event at Surat Makes Guinness World Record

June 21 was the International Day of Yoga. To celebrate this day, 1.53 lakh people participated in a yoga session organised in the Dumas area of Surat. The huge crowd gathered on two stretches of roads.  A yoga instructor and LED screens were placed at each block of the two streets. This event set a new Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people at one venue to perform yoga. 

Several political leaders, including the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, were present at the yoga session in Surat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the crowd at Surat virtually since he is on a 3-day tour to the United States.
