Fun with Words: Similes

Similes are a fun way to describe something by comparing it to another thing. We can use similes to describe people, animals, weather or situations.

A simile consists of a noun and an adjective. The adjective is based on some characteristic that is common with the noun. Let us look at an example to help us understand better.

As slow as a snail

This simile has a noun- “snail” and an adjective- “slow”. Snails are one of the slowest-moving animals on earth. We can use this simile to describe how slow something is by comparing it with a snail.

Example: “Rahul writes as slow as a snail.”
