Geographical Indications of India

India is a diverse country. Hence, we often see things that are unique to different regions. These could be food items, art forms, or clothing objects. They are grown or created in certain regions, which makes them famous and unique. Their uniqueness comes from their geographical locations. Hence, it is important to protect their identity.

For this, the Government of India awards Geographical Indication (GI) tags to such products. A geographical indication is a sign or name used on products that have certain qualities due to their geographical origin. This means that only the products made in those specific regions can use those GI tags. For example, Nagpur Oranges hold a GI tag, and only oranges grown in and around Nagpur can be called Nagpur Oranges. Here are some products which have GI tags: Mysore Silk, Blue Pottery of Jaipur, Nasik Grapes, and Kathputlis of Rajasthan, among many others. Let us see if you can identify the following GI tag products.
