SPORTS AND WHERE THEY ARE PLAYED

We all like to play games and sports. Almost all sports have different fields or areas where they are played. Today, we will learn about the different playing areas of 6 sports.

1. Cricket

A cricket field is round or oval in shape. It is covered with grass. At its centre, is the pitch where the bowl is bowled. Each team has 11 players.  

2. Football

A football field is rectangular in shape. It is divided into two halves of the same size. Just like cricket, each team has 11 players in football.

3. Basketball

In basketball, players play on a wooden court. It is rectangular in shape and has two baskets on either side. Each team has 5 players.

4. Lawn Tennis

Lawn tennis is played on a rectangular court with a net in between. Lawn tennis is sometimes played on grass, clay or hard courts. Singles or doubles players can play tennis.

5. Badminton

Badminton is played on a hard court which is rectangular in shape. Just like tennis, Singles or doubles players can play badminton. There is a net at the centre of the court.  

6. Hockey

Hockey is played on a rectangular field. Earlier, it was played on grass but now it is played on artificial grass. Each team has 11 players.
